A short while ago I started reading a new and brilliant series called the Beyond Moondust Trilogy and book one called From the Sky thrilled and entertained me for many hours. Book two in the series called Equinox equally excited me, and so I am so excited to have read and finished Aurora’s Curtain, the third and final book in the Beyond Moondust Trilogy and wow, what a ride it has been book lovers! Aurora’s Curtain is undeniably a must read and a novel that I was desperate to read ever since finishing Equinox as I was desperate to be reunited with the characters and story I had grown to love. Firstly, the cover of the book is stunning and I would be lying if I said that the cover did not attract me! But what really attracted me was the phenomenal description which alluded to a conclusion of many questions I had racing through my mind and so I was hooked before I even started to read the book. However, this is no surprise considering I have loved every book so far in the series!
Aurora’s Curtain is the perfect example of why I love science fiction/fantasy novels, and it is one of the best I have ever read. Good fantasy novels need a few things, one being the ability to thrill you yet leave you wanting more which I must add is incredibly hard to accomplish! J.E. Nicassio, however, accomplishes this and does so in a way that will have you looking for more and left wanting more after every turn of the page. Aurora’s Curtain is more than just a fantasy story book lovers, it instead is so much more and delves into a magnitude of poignancy which is rarely come across in fantasy novels. Aurora’s Curtain captivated all of my attention from the premise alone and when I got past the first chapter I was left hooked and wanting more and read and finished the book in a record time! I am still not sure how Nicassio was able to do this, it must be a combination of her phenomenal literature, brilliant characterization and spine-tingly great moments, but I must say, I can’t get enough of this world she brilliantly put together and am so excited to read what she writes next!
As Aurora’s Curtain is the third book in the series I will not be discussing the premise, however, I have included below an excerpt of my review for From the Sky which will let you know more about this brilliant series and the general premise of the story!
“ The reader in From the Sky will be introduced to the protagonist of the novel, Samantha Hunter, a high school junior who tries to start afresh in New Mexico with her father. Sam has experienced great tragedy in her life even though she is so young and this is because one day, while driving with her twin brother Finn in the passenger seat, she crashes and although somebody saves Sam, a mysterious man, Finn is killed instantly. Not long after this tragic event Sam’s mother also dies for reasons I will not spoil and this forces Sam’s father who is an archaeologist, to move to New Mexico in pursuit of a new job and Sam goes too, and the plan is to start again.
Not long after arriving in New Mexico, Sam meets a mysterious man called Lucien and Lucien is kind and shows her what there is to live for. In fact, he shows her more than what you would expect because he takes her on a journey through the ‘hidden world of Aliens.’ Sam, while trying to navigate her grief and feelings towards Lucien, will learn all about Aliens and more about the mysterious Lucien.”
