For millennia, the people of the Plane have worshipped five megaliths as relics of the mysterious Zaam.

In recent years, the nation of Tabira has employed remarkably advanced technology to subjugate the entire Plane and eradicate all belief in the Zaam. Now, the three remaining nations must uncover the secret behind Tabira’s sudden forward leap in civilization.

At the forefront, a doctor, three intelligence officers, and a freedom fighter embark on their respective journeys to restore a balance of power to the Plane.

Wow, Apex Five: The Plane… where do I begin? Why don’t I start my review by writing that Apex Five: The Plane is a thrilling novel that is not only worthy of being read by all readers but also a novel that needs to be a movie. When I read the description of Apex Five: The Plane I was hooked, after all, I love science fiction novels and love even more when they have a twist, so I was hooked and ready to go. However, when I started to read Apex Five: The Plane, I was shocked by just how good the literature and the story was and so I raced through this novel desperate to find out what would happen to the protagonists I had grown to love. Every now and then a reader will come across that one book that blows them away, it is a somewhat generic term, but that is what Apex Five: The Plane did to me… it blew me away and ever since completing it I have been thinking of its intricate and detailed story and how I need to re-read it! That is when you know book lovers that you have come across an incredible book when you are thinking of it when you have a million things to do. That is why I am already going to recommend Apex Five: The Plane to you lovely readers, and yes, it may be early on in my review, but Apex Five: The Plane is a novel not to be missed.

Apex Five: The Plane is a novel set in a place called the Plane, and here there is a belief called Zaam however not everybody believes in the belief and is happy that it is being so widely practiced. This fact makes one of the three prominent nations in the novel, Tabira to try and eradicate al belief of the Zaam and they do this by ‘employing advanced technology.’ During this period in the Plane, an uprising occurs and the three nations and their leaders start a war with each other, and this leaves catastrophic effects on the Plane. This will lead to a few core characters on their journey to restore balance to the Plane, and the result of this is a fascinating and intriguing story that will undoubtedly entertain readers for many hours… I know I was!

Apex Five: The Plane for me was thrilling, captivating and addictive right from the start and I felt this from beginning to end. Apex Five: The Plane was captivating to me from the start thanks to the unique premise of the story and the bewitching literature courtesy of the author, Sarah Katz who hooked me with her unique story that was unlike anything I have read before. It is rare to find a science fiction novel that is refreshing, and it is even more challenging to discover a science fiction story that does not rely on gimmicks and ridiculous action sequences! Apex Five: The Plane does have some action-packed moments however they are tasteful and in no way gimmicky which is always fantastic in a book!

Sarah Katz is a phenomenal writer who knows how to grasp her reader’s attention from the first page. Katz instead of writing long, drawn-out build-ups which are commonly found in science fiction novels, decides to ditch this approach and thrust his reader into the heart of the story straight away so that the reader is instantly captivated and immersed. I personally love this approach, what is the point of having a long build-up with little excitement? This is only necessary if the author in question can’t develop the characters in the story quickly but with Katz, the reader will not encounter this issue because Katz instantly develops her characters and makes the reader invest in not only them but also their journey.

Overall Apex Five: The Plane is a thrilling, compelling and thought-provoking novel that will easily entertain readers for many days and nights and so, I, of course, have to award this stellar gem of a book five stars!
